February 14th: Jim appears on the Show of Hearts Telethon - "The first telethon I did was back in 1978," says Byrnes. "I've missed a couple of years while I was touring on the road or was sick, but I've done 35 of those 38 years.The work Variety does in helping children and their families is very important." - Jim Byrnes. October 2: Get Yer Ya Yas Out! A Tribute to the Classic 1970 Live Album by the Rolling Stones took place at the Kay Meek Centre, 1700 Mathers Avenue in West Vancouver. Jim Byrnes was a featured entertainer along with Barney Bentall, Dustin Bentall, Shawn Hall, Rich Hope, Craig Northey, Dawn Pemberton, Ndidi Onukwulu, Steve Dawson & the Black Hen House Band.


April 15: St. Louis Times is released, a salute to Jim's birthplace. In honour of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the city, it also marks the 10th year of Jim's artistic partnership with producer Steve Dawson.

January 20: Internationally renowned Canadian blues artists from coast-to-coast were honoured by their peers at the 17th Annual Maple Blues Awards gala in Toronto, as a full house of blues lovers gathered to celebrate Canadian blues at Koerner Hall. As he has mutiple times in the past, Jim Byrnes was awarded the title of Male Vocalist of the Year. In a year dominated by winners from Ontario and Quebec, Jim was the only award winner west of the Ontario border.


November 2: The Maple Blues Awards noms are announced, and Jim Byrnes is up for Male Vocalist of the Year.

February 15: Jim Byrnes' Long Riders featuring Steve Dawson perform in concert at the Park at English Bay (1275 Davie Street, Vancouver) - a benefit for the Odd Squad.


October 28: The Vancouver CD Release Party for I Hear The Wind in the Wires is held at The Electric Owl.

September 18: Jim Byrnes releases an album of songs from the golden age of country music called I Hear The Wind in the Wires on the Black Hen Music label.


March 26: Everywhere West wins the Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year. This is Jim Byrnes' third win in the category.

February 2 : Everywhere West is nominated for a Juno Award for Blues Album of the year. The awards ceremony takes place on March 27th.


November 14: CD release concert for Everywhere West at CBC Studio 40 in Vancouver, BC.

November 2: The Maple Blues Awards noms are announced, and Jim Byrnes is up for Male Vocalist of the Year.

October 24: Jim Byrnes won Blues Recording of the Year at this year's Western Canadian Music Awards in Kelowna, BC.

November 5 to 13: Jim Byrnes tours Alberta & BC with Steve Dawson.

October 22 to 31: Jim Byrnes tours the Netherlands with Steve Dawson and The Sojourners.

October 19: Jim Byrnes' new recording Everywhere West is released on the Black Hen Music label.

September 21: Black Hen Music releases a DVD documenting the performances of Jim Byrnes, Steve Dawson, The Sojourners, and many others as part of the All Star Tribute to the Music of the Mississippi Sheiks at the Capilano Theatre. It will be released in Canada, the United States and Europe.

September 19: The Sojourners cast off on a Gospel Cruise in Vancouver with special guests Kenny 'Blues Boss' Wayne and Candus Churchill & The Gospel Experience. Jim Byrnes and Paul Pigat will be aboard too, along with other suprises.

July 12 - 18: Jim Byrnes appears at The Vancouver Folk Festival and the Ottawa Blues Festival as part of a Tribute to the Music of the Mississippi Sheiks.

May 12th: Jim Byrnes appears as one of 17 musicians and singers at the Capilano University Theatre in North Vancouver as part of an All Star Tribute to the Music of the Mississippi Sheiks.

February 22: Jim Byrnes is nominated for a Canadian Indie Music Award for Favourite Blues Act.

March 19 to 27: Jim Byrnes tours Germany and Belgium with The Sojourners.


May 12: Jim Byrnes' new recording 'My Walking Stick' is released on the Black Hen Music label.

April 26 to May 6: Jim Byrnes tours Germany and the Netherlands for the first time ever, with Steve Dawson and The Sojourners.

April 24: Jim Byrnes, Steve Dawson and The Sojourners appear in Ottawa as part
of the National Arts Centre’s BC Scene, the largest-ever gathering of BC artists outside the province. For more information, visit www.bcscene.ca.

April 7: Jim Byrnes and The Sojourners joined other environmentally aware performers from around the world to perform in Montreal at 7 Continents, 1 Earth: A CBC/Radio-Canada Earth Day Celebration. Listen to it here on CBC Radio 2 Concerts on Demand.


September 15: Steve Dawson and Jim Byrnes head out on the "Fathers and Sons' tour of western Canada with Doug Cox and Amos Garrett, November 19th to 30th.

September 14: Jim Byrnes has just emerged from the studio after recording a new CD, again produced by Steve Dawson.


October 18: Jim Brynes' House of Refuge CD picks up the West Coast Music Awards trophy for Outstanding Blues Recording.
